He is a heifer’s calf, born unassisted and has impressed since birth. He is moderate in frame, has a wonderful temperament and is extremely easy doing. Nicole D017 is a most attractive cow with presence and correctness. We considered her dam, Lachlan Nicole (P) (ET), to be one of our best cows. Freddie weighed 38 kgs at birth and has always displayed high fertility.
His dam is by Ronelle Park Alexander, an attractive son of the champion sire, The Grove Kookaburra. The latter has been a sensation for the Belmore Stud, siring the $27,000 Dubbo 2012 sale topper, Belmore Osh Kosh. He also has amazing EBVs, being a trait leader in Gestation Length, Milk, Carcase Weight, Eye Muscle Area and IMF. Kookaburra is at the very top of the breed for all $ indexes.
Freddie's maternal grand dam, Lachlan Nicole (P) (ET) is a daughter of the $20,000 bull, Futurity Outback. This bull has been a very successful sire with over 2000 commercial progeny and has himself produced bulls for Sprys to $20,000. He is a trait leader for Birth Weight and IMF.
We believed that Freddie would be a moderate birth weight bull producing calves with growth potential. This has proved the case with his first calves being among the most impressive in the heifer paddock. The October 2015 Breedplan analysis showed Freddie to be a trait leader for Birthweight and among the top 5 bulls in the breed for low birth weight. His first steers into the Thousand Guineas Shorthorn JBS program have marbled exceptionally well.
