During the week, the first bulk IGS data was released for Australia’s shorthorns registered with Shorthorn Beef.
All data was previously analysed through Breedplan but the shift is now being made to the new platform which is run from America and is the world’s largest multi breed beef cattle genetic analysis.
In looking at the performance of our cows on IGS, we feel that the new data confirms Toogimbie Shorthorns as one of Australia’s top marbling herds.
Out of all Australian Herd Book Shorthorn females, our young cow, Toogimbie Dainty M37 is equal 2nd and Toogimbie Mercy Wallflower M39 is equal 3rd. Toogimbie Nita Lotus N52 and Toogimbie Nell Nicole N56 are equal 10th.
All these cows are at the very top of their age groups for marbling. Almost all are by our homebred bull, Toogimbie Jesse James J94.
Evidence of our strong marbling genetics will only increase with time as the progeny of these outstanding individuals are scanned.
