Jesse James is as tough an animal as you could get.His Mum died when he was 5 days old and he found himself a new mother in the herd and still came to the scales as one of the highest weight gaining yearling calves of his drop. We decided that his toughness could only be an asset to our herd.
We used him successfully as a heifer bull for 5 years and he is extremely fertile, achieving 100% fertility with 45 heifers in his last season as a paddock sire.
His daughters have scanned extremely well, showing excellent marbling levels. Feedback on his steers from the Shorthorn Thousand Guineas intake has also verified Jesse James’s carcase strengths. He has had feedlot progeny achieve an MSA marble score of 4.
Jesse James has excellent structure and temperament and his progeny show the vitality of those of his legendary grandfather, The Grove Kookaburra.
We continue to use him through A.I. and he is the sire of one our pick T bulls.
